Eric A. Anderson, Attorney at Law, P.A. is a sole practitioner, doing business as Kootenai Valley Law. Given the technological changes over the last decade, I strongly believe the sole practitioner model is the future. I think the future will prove that staying lean through technologic proficiency affords clients the greatest return on their legal investment.

I’m a general practitioner, whose broad life experience allows me to effectively solve the numerous legal issues rural clients face. I’ve successfully won judgments in multiple real property, contract, water, and easement disputes. I provide estate planning and probate services. I can set up your corporation, LLC, or 501(c)(3) for you. I will defend you in a criminal matter, or help you protect your loved ones through guardian and conservatorships. And I’ve seen more divorces and child custody matters to conclusion than I can count. Additionally, if you want to avoid fighting, I’m a certified civil mediator, child custody mediator, and parenting coordinator.

I was born in Fort Benning, Georgia, prior to moving twenty-six miles west of Lolo, Montana, where my retired Army Airborne father began working as an investigator for the Defense Department in Missoula. Raised rurally, I learned the value of hard work young behind a chainsaw and bucking bales. But also learning to love and appreciate the outdoors, often roaming the mountains and rivers of Western Montana with a rifle or fishing rod in my hands.

Similarly, I’ve learned to persevere through adversity. Small for my age, I persevered as an athlete and was one of the first soccer players from Montana to play on a collegiate scholarship. But life is not all strawberries and roses. I also struggled with alcoholism while continuing to work hard as a wild-land firefighter and commercial fisherman for years — and ultimately, surrendering to Alcoholics Anonymous in 2005. I’ve been sober ever since, and continue to help others with addiction both as a sponsor and volunteer with the treatment court.

It’s these qualities of hard work, perseverance in the face of adversity, and understanding that there are times in life when we all struggle that allow me to meet my clients where they are, and advocate successfully on their behalf. My honesty, grit, and hard earned street smarts are allies every client can depend on.

I received my B.A. in psychology from the University of Montana in 2009. Thereafter, I attended the University of Idaho School of Law where I earned my J.D., and concurrently an M.S. in Bioregional Planning and Community Design. I’m licensed to practice before the State and Federal Courts in both Idaho and Montana and consistently represent clients from the communities of Bonners Ferry, Sandpoint, and Libby.

When I’m not busy attending to the various needs of my clients, I enjoy taking advantage of the many outdoor offerings provided by North Idaho and Montana’s beautiful expanses. I also continue to be a soccer nut. I’m a diehard Portland Timbers fan, coach my son’s Sandpoint Strikers club soccer team, and currently serve on the Sandpoint Strikers Soccer Association Board of Directors.
